Pagan Portals – Reclaiming Witchcraft
Goddess Worship, Paganism, Witchcraft

by Irisanya Moon
Reclaiming Witchcraft is designed to help the reader better understand the basic structure of the Reclaiming tradition, as well as discover how it has changed since its initial formation in San Francisco and subsequent journey out to the reaches of Canada, Australia, and Europe. From the basic tenets of what makes a Reclaiming Witch, to how rituals are performed, how lessons are passed on, and how magick is made around the world, Reclaiming Witchcraft seeks to welcome those who might be interested in learning more, while also directing them to resources and paths that can help facilitate their journey.
REVIEW
5 out of 5
This was my initial introduction to the Reclaiming path of witchcraft, and I found it quite interesting. I’ve heard of various other paths before, and while this was a new one to me, there were a few things that stood out to me – this is much newer than even Wicca, although it shares some tenets of it, including parts of the Wiccan Rede. There’s also information included on the organization itself, although to be a Reclaiming Witch one does not need a formal initiation or membership card, this isn’t a long recruitment brochure, more of an insight into both the organization, the craft, and beliefs, as well as the history. For me, personally, the most interesting chapters were the ones touching on personal practice, rituals, and using magic in activism. There’s much more covered in this book, including classes and camps offered by the organization around the world, and how different age groups are handled as people of all different ages are involved in the tradition. Definitely recommended if you’re merely curious like me, or looking to get involved but unsure if you’re ready to fully dive in yet!
