Pagan Portals – The Art of Lithomancy
Divination with Stones, Crystals, and Charms

by Jessica Howard
Lithomancy is a form of divination which many people are aware of, although they may not know it by name. Using nothing more than stones from the garden or your favourite crystals, you can uncover the secrets of your subconscious, understand the past, and divine the future.
REVIEW
4 out of 5
This was an interesting introduction to a unique form of divination, primarily using crystals and rocks. I’ve known about bone-throwing, and even practiced it, but I’ve never used exclusively crystals and rocks. The book is broken down into easy to navigate sections, well-written, and easy to follow. While I appreciate the disclaimers when talking about ingesting or applying herbs/crystals or oil/water infused with herbs/crystals to the skin, I highly recommend against putting any crystals in water you intend to ingest. No matter how much research you do, there are a lot of fake crystals on the market, they’re getting much better at making them, and you could easily accidentally poison yourself. I must admit, I’m not sure how I feel about using Lithomancy as a healing practice with chakra stones. It’s an interesting addition to an ancient divination practice, and I’ll leave it up to the reader to decide if it works for them, as it seems to have worked well for Howard. Overall, a good introduction, but not for someone who is completely uninitiated in divination or working with crystals.
