I loved this twist on the story of Hades and Persephone, and easily got wrapped up in this more magical side of New York. First, let me say I loved the opening to this book. Luca gives you a peek into Indie’s past, framing it as folklore stories that have more than a little truth backing them. The rest of the book didn’t disappoint, either. The character development is on point, and the magical/paranormal elements are woven into our world very well. The story moves along at a decent pace, and really draws you in. Not as spicy as many retellings I’ve read, but that’s not a bad thing. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sapphic retelling that will leave you feeling warm.
