The Coming of Endless Darkness

The Faceless Chronicles Book 3

by Grant Pierce

In a world ruled by Astaroth, hope is the deadliest rebellion.

Aeryth has endured a dozen years under the Demon Wars, and the world teeters on annihilation. Kingdoms lie shattered. Lawless warbands roam the wastes. And Astaroth plots to summon The One Below All Creation, an ancient god whose mere presence will extinguish all life on Aeryth.

Yet, a prophecy whispers of hope. In their most desperate hour, the Lightbringer will appear and drive the darkness back. However, Arkal Lightbringer has chosen to abandon Aeryth and return to Nymriel.

Without the Lightbringer, the surviving heroes face a reckoning no prophecy foretold. To stop the end of all things, the companions must reclaim the shattered world, defy Astaroth’s tightening grip, and stop Thezgoron’s treachery.

Ancient powers stir. The hour is desperate. The endless darkness is coming.

The world cries out for its Lightbringer.

Y’all, as prepared as I thought I was for this book, I can tell you I was entirely wrong – nothing could’ve prepared me for how dark, or captivating, things got. I finished reading this quickly once I started because I was captivated. Although this was still quite the emotional roller coaster, it didn’t feel like it ripped at my heart quite as much as book two did. (But that doesn’t mean Pierce lets you off easy!) This series is really the embodiment of grimdark, and this installment really drives that home, with the prophesied savior turning their back on everyone. However, that doesn’t stop the heroes we’ve come to know from fighting back against the darkness, no matter how bleak things appear. There are still plenty of twists and turns as well, so don’t go in thinking you know how things will end or the path to get there. Can’t wait to see what book four has in store, because I know the story isn’t over quite yet.

Writer. Reader. Gamer.

That’s the core of my world. Most days, I’m trying to juggle those passions around kids, pets, and the general battlefield of family life. Fortunately, I’m married to a woman who makes the chaos survivable.

My work is firmly planted in epic fantasy. I build expansive worlds, ancient powers, rising darkness, and apocalyptic stakes that force heroes into impossible choices. Magic isn’t a backdrop in my stories—it’s the engine that drives the plot, shapes the past, and drags characters into the unknown. I write with a simple mission: keep readers guessing. No telegraphed twists. No easy predictions. Once a book becomes predictable, it loses its pulse. Storytelling should keep you alert, curious, and hungry for the next page.

I came to writing from a career in psychology, which turned out to be ideal for crafting villains who genuinely believe they’re the heroes of their own sagas. Real people seldom think they’re monsters. My cat, however, knows exactly what he is. He just leans into being the god of mischief and evil.
