When you open this book, you’re once gain transported back in time, with a twist of magic, strong bonds of family, and political intrigue await. Synne’s life has been quite tumultuous in the time we’ve known her, this installment was no different. Her gifts seem to be fickle at best, and while trying to track down her heritage, she’s trying to flee religious persecution, and those who would like to be rid of her for the crime of witchcraft. I was excited to dive back in, and pick up where book two left off. I wasn’t disappointed. The characters felt like old friends, even if I found some of them frustrating at times (Magnus, looking at you and your traditional values). The story moves along at a fairly good pace, crisscrossing the map and adding new interesting characters along the way. Highly recommend this series to all historical fantasy lovers that don’t mind a sprinkling of romance added in.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Who is Laurence O’Bryan?
I am a survivor. I grew up in Ireland. My roots go back to my grandfathers’ farm deep in the Mountains of Mourne, near the Silent Valley, in County Down, Northern Ireland.
I went to school in Dublin, drank way too much, studied English and history, then business, then IT at Oxford University. While a student, I worked as a kitchen porter in a club near the Bank of England. Later I worked in IT marketing for 25 years, much of that time in London.
The Istanbul Puzzle was my first published novel (Jan, 2012,) The Jerusalem Puzzle was my second (Jan, 2013,) The Manhattan Puzzle my third (Aug, 2014.) The Nuremberg Puzzle (April, 2016) the fourth and The Cairo Puzzle (Aug 2018) completed the series.
In 2007 I won the Outstanding Novel Submitted award at the Southern California writer’s conference. The Istanbul Puzzle was shortlisted for Irish Crime Novel of 2012.
My research has taken me all over the world, from San Francisco to deep in the Arab world. I still enjoy looking at the stars and listening to the stories of strangers.
