If I had to sum this up briefly, I’d say it was intriguing, with a bit of romance, well-developed characters, a touch of mystery, and enough twists that you’ll be kept guessing til the very end. Right out of the gate, the imagery is so vivid you feel like you’re an invisible observer, standing there watching it all unfold. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was hooked before I reached the end of chapter one. Clara is a great character, well-developed, and feels like someone who could’ve been one of my professors back in college. The story itself moves along at a good pace, and there’s rarely a truly dull moment. Each thing just draws you further in, and I was dying to know the truth behind Fiadh and Agatha and the collection. Overall, an excellent book, and I can’t wait for book two in the series!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Anna Burke enjoys all things nautical and generally prefers animals to people. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found walking in the woods with her dogs or drinking too much tea, which she prefers hot and strong—just like her protagonists.
She lives in Massachusetts with her wife, dogs, and too many houseplants. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, where she now teaches in their Popular Fiction MFA program. She is also the Director of Education for the Golden Crown Literary Society.
