This was a great introduction to a new series, with great characters and an interesting plot. Eli tries to get away from the paranormal world, but life has other plans for her. The characters are all quite interesting, and I loved the banter between Eli and Dan, (seriously you can tell they’re just meant to at least be partners if not romantically involved). Provost does a great job of introducing the paranormal side of the world, and I expect we’ll probably get to learn more about it in later books. The plot moves along pretty smoothly, but don’t expect too much tension, as this definitely has cozy mystery vibes. If you’re looking for a fun, paranormal mystery with a light side of romance, then I’d grab this one.

Jennifer Allis Provost is a native New Englander who lives in a sprawling colonial along with her beautiful and precocious twins, a dog, two birds, three cats, and a wonderful husband who never forgets to buy ice cream. As a child, she read anything and everything she could get her hands on, including a set of encyclopedias, but fantasy was always her favorite. She spends her days drinking vast amounts of coffee, arguing with her computer, and avoiding any and all domestic behavior.
