What do you get when you combine a cursed teen boy, a cursed yeti, and precious gems? An unforgettable story. This was a genderbend retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and was a lot of fun to read. “Gaston” in this case is a Hunter called Astonia, and she’s just as creepy, self-centered, and predatory as Gaston was. I loved both Bellamy and Abigail, they’re well-developed characters who find themselves in an impossible situation. The descriptions are vivid, and really bring you right into the heart of the story. I loved Abigail’s crystal mansion, it was such a great twist on the Beast’s castle. Bellamy’s dedication to his mother, and later breaking the curse, was heart-warming. There are definitely moments in this that will make you giggle, and Bellamy has an unusual level of self-awareness for a teen, but being acutely aware of his curse his whole life probably contributed to that. Overall, a truly enjoyable read!
