There are a lot of books out there about the fair folk, myths, stories, and beliefs about them, but if you live in North America, or are curious about how the fae appear in other cultures, you absolutely need to grab this book. It’s very well-researched and organized, but as someone who has always believed in fae and began working with them before really knowing they were fairies, I found this to be a breath of fresh air. When I was younger, all the books I came across portrayed fae as a purely European phenomenon, so I didn’t have a proper name for what I experienced here in the US. This book points out that there is a case for fairies in North America, and brings up some important arguments that the fae might actually be all over the world, simply known under different names. I found all the stories and information included fascinating, and Daimler’s writing style is easy to read, clear without being too dry. I found the contemporary chapter the most fascinating, and have made a note to check out some of the sources in the bibliography later for my own research purposed. Cannot recommend this enough for anyone curious about the fae!

My name is Morgan Daimler. I have had my poetry and prose published in different places including various anthologies, Circle magazine, Witches and Pagans magazine and Pagan Dawn magazine.
