This story is a dark retelling created by two spooky queens who combined the iconic stories of The Nightmare Before Christmas (specifically Oogie Boogie) and Coraline into a mash up of spooky goodness filled with banter, chaos, and lots of spice.

Before I start my review – pay attention to the warnings. This can get very dark and graphic at times, and while I enjoyed every minute, I had to take breaks occasionally for my mental health. Now that that’s out of the way, OMG this was dark and amazing. I couldn’t wait to dive in, Nightmare Before Christmas has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid, and while I wasn’t sure a book inspired by that and Coraline could actually be spicy, but in the end I was blown away. The characters were on point, but might not be exactly what you’re expecting (in a good way). They feel real, and you get so drawn in by the story, it’s easy to lose track of time. If I hadn’t needed to take a few breaks for myself, I probably would’ve finished in one sitting. If you enjoy dark, twisted, and spicy, you’re going to LOVE this. That ending is a killer though. I definitely need more!
